Three Little Pigs - Narrative
The original narrative for the Three Little Pigs, the narrative told is there are three little pigs whom moved away from their mother and left to start living their own lives. All three of the pigs have built houses made out of different materials, mud, twigs and brick were the materials used to build the houses. When the houses were finished all of the pigs went in and started to live their own lives, until one day where a wolf appeared and noticed that there were pigs in the houses and wanted to eat them. So he decided and to approach the mud house and said "And I huffed, and I puffed" he then proceeds to blow down the houses of pig 1 and 2, they eventually go into the house of pig 3. The wolf manages to go down the chimney and ends up in the boiling pan and dies. This is the original narrative of the story and there are other ways of changing the narrative by placing different parts of the narrative in different times of the narrative. For example you would be able to have all of the pigs leave their houses and return home to their mother, or even have the narrative be about the wolf's perceptive rather than the little pigs. With a simple narrative like this you can change the events a bit to have a new narrative structure to the story and make it longer or more interesting while changing the outcomes and other details in the narrative.

Semiotics

Within this image there is clearly a narrative being told about this man, and the statue beside him. He clearly is inspired to play his music for everyone to hear and he is trying to raise money for a great cause. He is clearly taking his time to help others rather than himself, and he clearly is enjoying playing and singing all day at Matthew's Street. Time is related to this image because of all of the names that have been engraved onto the wall behind the man, as well the statue of John Lennon beside him shows that time is related to this picture because of the history of music artists from Liverpool gives that feeling of past and present of music in Liverpool, where the music created by these artists still have a major impact on the life style of people in Liverpool and how people still see music as. The music is seen in a good way to help spread awareness to causes and inspire people such as this man to play and raise money for charity. The signs that I used in this picture are the names engraved on the wall and having the man playing the guitar and the statue of John Lennon to be aside each other to represent the legacy that the artists have left and that they are still inspiring people to play music in the city of Liverpool. As well the man is wearing a Beatles shirt which implies that he is a fan of the Beatles, plus he is performing outside of the Cavern Club where the Beatles first performed, therefore there are multiple signs being shown on the history of music in Liverpool just from this one simple but brilliant photograph.

Mise en scene

This image here is an example of a modern, romantic comedy. The reason behind this is the location and the colors of the image. The location and the view that can be seen would be an amazing location to film a scene of a couple walking around and everything in the background of the couple will be interesting to see and has a romantic style of feeling. The couple would walk on the waterfront seeing the different stores, people and even boats. With everything in the background it would make it seem natural and not staged and there is plenty of different things to see which draws attention from the couple and it still gives the chance for people to be reeled back into the main purpose of the scene which is the romantic part of the image. In addition this location and can be seen in this image is the buildings in the background which again gives more to the image and there can be made a purpose for this specific location because there is something to be seen and can be made as a certain topic to be discussed.

This image can be seen as a urban.gritty and danger location for a scene. To start the sense of an alleyway being gritty and dangerous is known by everyone and the added graffiti in this image states that people that vandalize and uses these alleyways to "hang out" can easily be portrayed by anyone. Then with the buildings they all look gritty and broken to some extent with graffiti being on a wall and the other buildings look rough and have been like that for a while. The alley ways are narrow and long with different items to be seen there could be a scene made where there is a drug deal happening with the cars in the background where people have come and meet up for the deal. This image gives many opportunities to think about different scenes that could be filmed in this location.

This image can be seen as a city, finance and fraudulent dealings scene, the main point for that statement would be the building which is seen. The building is modern and there is something that can be said by large company buildings from a narrative point of view where there can be one large scale company that seems all friendly and helps the community on the outside but on the inside there can be many fraudulent dealings that could occur. The image has an effect because there is a small glow that is on the side of the building by the sun which shows that friendly side of the company that is hiding what there true intentions are, that where the clearer side of the building shows where there can be many dealings occurring without anyone knowing, as well the building is set in the center of the location with other companies doing the same, that can be used for a scene.
A story told as a three-act structure
Dr Jamieson is the protagonist and he is traveling back to London after the news of a mass murderer is loose. His desire to go back is to see if his family and wife are alright, the antagonist targets wealthy Doctors.
The protagonist finds out that his family has been killed, then proceeds to leave bits of the crime scene there for the Dr to see. The doctor then has to figure out who killed his family with very limited resources. The scene would begin with the Dr being late for his train and is waiting for the next train to come for him to go back to London to see his family, news was discovered by the local radio that was playing in the station where there has been a murderer on the loose in London and it was said for everyone to stay indoors to be safe from the killer, this adds tension to the scene with the Dr now worried about his family and he needed to just get home. The scene would then cut to the town of London where people are panicking and rushing home while others stayed still in shock with no idea what is happening. Police are then introduced into the scene with them guiding and shouting at people to get indoors and lock the doors and stay alert for the murderer. The scene would end with a family hiding in the house and there comes a knock on the door a women starts slowly going towards the window to see who was at the door, she looked and saw a man in a officer uniform standing waiting for the door to open. The women proceeds to open the door and in a blink of an eye , a knife has been lodged in the throat of the women who crumbles to the floor with blood pouring everywhere, the two children scream in horror as the murderer grabs one of the children and furiously snaps the neck of the child, while this was happening the other child makes a break for it running at the top of his lungs "Help!" but before he could reach the main road the murderer catches him and chokes him out and drags the helpless body back into the house, the scene then switches back to the busy streets of London.

The Streets of London have been closed off, the police have guarded off the crowds of people by using gates. The crowd of people are confused and start asking questions about what’s going on? And when they will be allowed to go back to normal. The main protagonist arrives at London and is seeing mass amounts of people crowding officers who wouldn't let them pass the gate, eventually the crowd over runs the officers and runs towards the streets of London. The Dr makes a break for it and pushes an officer over and runs towards his house, when he gets to the house he is in shock because he sees all of his family members have been killed and been left in a state of disgusting ways. The Dr falls to his knees and agony and couldn't believe what has happened. The Dr stands up and picks up the knife that had blood covered on it and through it at the wall in anger. Before he can do anything else the officer which he pushed over ran into the house and tackled him down, and upon looking up to see the bodies on the floor he arrested the Dr for murdering this family. The Dr was explaining that it was his family, he took him to the office and eventually after hours of disputes he was left free of charge after identifying himself as the father and husband of the people who were murdered. He proceeds to enter the house again to investigate and find something that could help him find the killer. He discovered that the murderer had left objects laying about in the house which turns out to be the Dr's items. The scene ends with the Dr puzzled, the red herring of the narrative is the different objects that the detective owns that have been planted by the killer which can indicate that the detective is the killer.
The doctor then confronts the detective for killing his family, the detective has a realization that all of the objects has been planted by the killer. He manages to chase the killer through the streets and alley ways to try and capture the killer, he found the killer was hiding in a tavern mixing between the locals, but he forgot to clean his boots which had blood stains on the bottom and it left a bloody foot mark on the floor of the tavern,This would then only lead to one person to be the killer, this leads to the climax. Where the killer is spotted by the Dr which proceeds the chase scene. Eventually the Dr catches the killer and they have a fight scene where the killer nearly won but the doctor used an object which he held onto from the house where the killer had left, this is used as irony in the story and fills in the plot wholes in the story with the killer leaving objects, but it is never revealed why the killer did leave the objects around, that remains a mystery for the audience to try and figure out why he did this. The killer then gets arrested, we see his trial he is found guilty of killing. He is sentenced for life in prison with no chance of parole.
Non-narrative Documentary
The title of the documentary will be called, Life of a Student (John Moore’s edition)
The documentary will have a comedic feel to it, with there being a main presenter discussing everything about the university. This would have small skits being portrayed and funny one liner words. As well there will be information given out which is correct and will intrigue the audience, there will be ins and outs of the University and “Life hacks” on how to survive.
The documentary will have a running time of 1 hour, where in different sections of the film there will be different tones to it. There will be scenes where the presenter will get serious and discuss important topics that need to be understood by the audience, as well as scenes where the presenter will make a joke out of something, for example he could make a joke about the distance between the stairs to a lecture room and the distance between the elevator to a lecture room. Little dabs will be included throughout the entire documentary this should give that comedic effect that it needs, because if all of the documentary is straight facts and nothing to break up the scenes then it will just get repetitive for the audience. But the documentary still needs to be information-led to the audience while having some stage of entertainment-led scenes to keep it consistent.
The documentary will have different locations while filming from the cafeteria to lecture rooms, the reason behind this is to ensure that the background will change and give something new to see and not the same background for like 30 minutes. The different backgrounds will keep the documentary interesting and fresh for the viewers while also they can be used as cutaways for the presenter to either move onto the next item or to illustrate a point. Also to point out there will be interviews by students to give their personal opinion of life in university so far and specifically their time in John Moore's. There will be around 5-10 interviews throughout the documentary to cover all different aspects for it, as well it will show how people's experiences have been from the first week of semester to the last week of the first semester, this will have good feedback and it will intrigue new students on how to cope and live in a new environment for the very first time in their lives potentially. This is the idea for the documentary for life in in John Moore's university.
Sound in Narrative
The sound in this film tells the entire narrative to the audience, the shots dotn have anything spectacular to make the audience want to watch it again and feel something. But the audio that is used for each of the scenes creates the feeling of being in the situation and also it tells a story to the viewer without having any dialogue to convey the narrative. All of the sounds used in this have been thought about and testes in different scenarios to create a scene for the viewer. All of the scenes have different audio clips displaying different motions and atmosphere to create an narrative. The first one is a women working on a computer therefore i would edit a typing audio clip to match what the action of the women is and it tells the story that the women is either working in an office or is just browsing on her computer. The audio can offer different versions of the narrative. The second clip offers another straight forward narrative where there is a busy street and different aspects of things are happening with the audio with the vehicles moving and the people walking across. The third clip is a time lapse of a city where there is a skyline audio clip playing to make it feel like a busy night in the city with not a lot of other sounds to be heard only the basic things you would hear in the night in the city. And the final clip has audio of children shouting and birds flapping their wings, this is to give a narrative to what was once in this location while the shot goes through the street, the narrative here is strong because it gives you a completely different narrative to the other ones where it is looking back in time with the audio but is in the present with the video clip, which again shows how audio can illustrate different narrative versions for everyone.
